Catherine
Baum is a general assignment reporter and videographer at the Daily
Hampshire Gazette in Northampton, Massachusetts. Her beat is
Northampton and Easthampton city schools and Southampton town news,
including coverage of town board and school committee meetings, breaking
police and fire news and human interest stories. In addition to filing
copy for print and online, she shoots, produces and edits two to three-minute videos with voice-overs for GazetteNET,
www.gazettenet.com, and
Easthampton Community Access Television,
www.ecatchannel5.com.
Upon request, Baum provides
video production services for individuals, non-profit organizations and
small to medium-sized businesses in New England and New York.
Promotional videos expose services and products. Event videos include
weddings and receptions, family reunions, dance recitals, sporting
events, public speeches, concerts and cultural ceremonies. Video

Prior to
the Gazette, Baum wrote for The Post-Standard in Syracuse, New York; The
Republican in Springfield, Massachusetts, and the Independent on Sunday
in London. She also photographed and researched still images and
copyright for use in “Anthropology 101,” a London-based education
documentary.
Baum graduated from Syracuse University with a
bachelor's degree in newspaper and political science. She plans to stay
in journalism.
